Virginia Westberg, 82, 1321 Mamie Eisenhower Ave., Boone, died May 1 at the Madrid Home, Madrid, of cancer.

The body has been cremated and no services or visitation is planned. Burial of the cremains will be in Linwood Park Cemetery.

She was born June 22, 1921, in Polk County, the daughter of Ivan and Leila (Hurst) Whiteman. She married Robert G. Westberg March 1, 1941, in Boone.

She graduated from Boone High School in 1940. She was a librarian at Ericson Public Library in Boone for many years before retiring in 1980. Her hobbies included antiques, reading, painting, especially portraits, and family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Bill Troche of Lakeside, Calif.; three grandsons, Kelly, Michael and Joel Askvig of California; and several cousins, including many in the Boone area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Whiteman; and one son, James Robert Westberg.

Memorials may be given to the Madrid Home Hospice Unit.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
