Judy Schroeder, 72, died July 8, 2012, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services are Friday, July 13, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 625 S. Division Street in Boone. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Judy was born in Buchanan, MI, on November 28, 1939, the daughter of Robert and Vivian (Russell) Gess. On November 29, 1957, Judy married Don Schroeder in El Cajon, CA. For 31 years, she was employed at Nerem & Associates Real Estate in Boone and worked as office secretary, insurance agent, office manager, and before her retirement as policy supervisor. Judy moved to Ankeny three years ago. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she loved socializing with family and friends. Judy lived life to the fullest.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Don. Judy is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Todd) Olson of Ankeny; a son, Larry (Cheryl) Schroeder of Grimes; two brothers, Larry (Niki) Gess of Marietta, GA, and Brian (Wilma) Gess of Santee, CA; seven grandchildren, Amanda Carpenter and fiancé Jake Simmons of Des Moines, Nicole (Jacob) Nicholson of Waukee, Kylie (David) Henning of Goose Creek, SC, Nic Schroeder of Grimes, Taylor (Amanda) Olson, Trevor (Brit) Olson, and Tucker Olson all of Estherville; three great-grandchildren, Brody Olson and Thor Olson of Estherville and Hadley Nicholson of Waukee.

Friends may call at the Grace Community Church in Boone on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present to receive friends. Visitation continues Friday at the Church from 9 a.m. until service time.

In memory of Judy, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Grace Community Church of Boone.
