Francis W. Conard, 73, Boone, formerly of Stanhope, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999 at the Boone County Hospital. He had been a resident of the Evangelical Free Home in Boone since February 1998. The body was cremated. Memorial services were held Monday at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Rev. Dean Fullerton officiating.

Francis Wilmar Conard, son of Charles Willard and Marie I. Trimble Conard, was born March 14, 1926 in Boone. He worked in construction for a period of time before working at the Power Plant at Iowa State University, where he worked until his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Boone.

Survivors are a daughter, Christine Marie Conard of Stanhope, a son, Charles Arthur Conard of Des Moines, former wife Phyllis Conard of Boone, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard T. Conard of Bradenton, FL., two sisters, Evalyn Knox and Gracia Merical, both of Charlotte, N.C., nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
