Arlene F. Wirtz, 77, of Boone, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the First Baptist Church at 612 8th Street in Boone, Iowa, with Rev. Jerry Bertelson officiating.
Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Walter-Schroeder Funeral Home at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., then on Saturday, visitation continues at the church from 8:30 a.m. to the time of service.

Arlene was born on June 6, 1935 north of Boone, in Boone County, Iowa, to Clarence Edward and Dorothy Mae (Bennett) Miller.

She attended school in Jordan, Iowa and graduated from Jordan High School in 1953.
Arlene was married to William Marion Wirtz on June 8, 1953. Arlene and Bill were life-long residents of Boone aside from living in Germany for two years while Bill was in the U.S. Army. The couple farmed north of Boone and operated a seed corn dealership with Pioneer Hi-bred International. She helped with the farming by running the combine during harvest for many years.

Arlene loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren and her pet cats. She enjoyed feeding and watching birds and squirrels in her yard as well as crossword puzzles and bowling.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Michael.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Lori Marlenee and her two grandchildren, Ian Marlenee and Jessie Marlenee of West Des Moines, her brother and sister in law, Edward L Miller and his wife, Marie of Boone, Iowa.

In memory of Arlene F. Wirtz, memorials may be made to the Boone Area Humane Society or the Animal Rescue League.
