William D. “Bill” Good, 77, of 1324 S.E. Linn Street in Boone, passed away at the Boone County Hospital on Monday evening, December 20, 2010.

Bill was born on June 5, 1933 in Boone, Iowa the son of Wesley and Lillian (Wigg) Good.

On June 22, 1952, he married Nyla Burkhart at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden, Iowa.

Bill worked in the family Superior Food store until June 1964 when he became the Director of Ambulance service at Boone County Hospital, retiring after 30 years of service to the hospital.

Bill is a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Iowa National Guard, and a 50-year member of Masons, Mount Olive Lodge #79 AF & AM. He enjoyed playing golf and attending a coffee group of men at the Boone County hospital.

His parents and a brother, Maurice Good in December of 2003, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nyla of Boone; a son David Good and wife Cathy of Kelley, Iowa; two daughters, Linda Michel and husband Steve of Boone and Laurie Newbold and husband Jim of Rochester, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Angela Wieck and husband Matt, Amy Cohen and husband Dan, Julie Good, Lacy Michel, Joshua Michel, Meagan Newbold, and Molly Newbold; 6 great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Rebecca Good and Rita Douglass.

Following Bill’s wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial services will be held on Wednesday morning, December 29th at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Pastor Phil Webb officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening, December 28th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends.

A Masonic service will be conducted by Mt. Olive Lodge #79 AF&AM on Tuesday evening, December 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel.
