William Flockhart
William R. Flockhart, 78, of 406 West Fifth Street died Tuesday, January 21 at the Boone County Hospital where he had been a patient for the last two weeks. Services will be Friday, January 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Christian Church with the Reverend Richard Goins officiating. Burial is to follow at Linwood Park Cemetery.
Flockhart was born February 18, 1896 in Boone, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Flockhart. On January 27, 1922 he married Kathryn Givens in Carroll, Iowa.
He was a retired assistant county engineer, and a member of the Central Christian Church, and the WWI barracks. He was also chaplain of AARP and a charter member of the American Legion.
Flockhart is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his son, Dr. J. Flockhart of Perry, his brother, Andrew, of Boone and two granddaughters.
Flockhart's parents and an infant daughter preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Stark Welin Chapel from noon until 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 8-11 a.m. on Friday. The family requests that memorials go to the Central Christian Church.
