John Harl

John Pettis Harl, 77, of 315 Benton Street, died Wednesday morning at the Boone County Hospital where he had been a patient since January 17. He was born December 3, 1897, at Stiles, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. John Harl.

Harl was married 52 years. He moved to Boone five years ago from Bloomfield. He was a member of the Christian Church of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 sisters, and 4 brothers. Survivors include his wife, Edna, of Boone, children, Mrs. Dean (Jeanne) Williams of Olathe, Kansas; Mrs. Philip (Joye) Brown of Boone; and Dr. Jerry D. Harl of Columbia, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, January 25 at 2 p.m. at the Priester Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Stark Welin Chapel Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; also at the Priester Funeral Home from noon until the Home closes on Friday and Saturday until the time of service.
