Marvin Adam Moeller, 85, of Boone, formerly of Atkins, died of heart failure Monday, Aug. 26, 1996, in his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone by the Rev. Daniel Alsop. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Schroeder Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, where the family will be present from 7 to 9 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Esther W.; a son, David Lee Moeller of Manchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Carol and Myron Hasstedt of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Mark, Joel and Todd Hasstedt, Sherrie Moeller, Taylor and Lani Moeller; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Covington of Cedar Rapids.

Born Nov. 21, 1910, in Boone to George and Elizabeth Happel Moeller, he attended school in Atkins, where he graduated from Atkins High School. For about 14 years, Marvin lived in Atkins, where he worked as a hired hand for two farmers. Following his marriage to Esther Haerther on Jan. 15, 1938, in Atkins, he moved to Boone County. There he farmed for 50 years, retiring in 1977. On April 16, 1988, the couple moved to 1928 Benton St., Boone.

Marvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he held various offices; board member of Lutheran Home for the Aged Foundation for 19 years; and past member of the Stanhope Lions Club.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be given to the Lutheran Home for the Aged, Vinton, or Trinity Lutheran Church, Boone.
