MRS. JOHN NEILSON PASSED AWAY FRIDAY AFTER ILLNESS OF LONG DURATION
Funeral Services Held Monday Afternoon with Interment at the Slater Cemetery
SLATER - Funeral services for Mrs. John Nielson of Slater were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and 2 o'clock at the Methodist church. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. Judson Perkins.
The many beautiful floral offerings paid silent tributes to the departed friend. Mrs. A. J. Reinertson and Mrs. Ed. Ross arranged the flowers. Pall bearers were P. L. Nelson, Chas Skortman, E. C. Rood, A. A. Chader, Thomas Brown and Will Van Gundy, The Rils quartette sang two numbers, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Let the Lower Lights be Burning." A duet, "My Faith Looks up to Thee," was sung by Mesdames M. S. Heggen and A. L. Peterson. Burial was made in the Slater Cemetery.
BORN IN DENMARK
Sina Marie Petrson was born in Denmark, November 16, 1854, and died at her home in Slater November 11, 1938, at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 25 days.
Her marriage to John Nielson took place May 10, 1882. Mr. Nielson preceded his bride to America and she joined him here a year later. They came to Sheldahl May 18, 1883, and made it their home for several years and also resided in Minnesota for a brief time. They moved to Slater in 1889 and have made this their home past 49 years.
Two children blessed this union: Nels and Katy. The daughter, Katy, who was Mrs. Fred Nelson of Chicago, died three years ago.
Mrs. Nielson with her husband united early in life with the Methodist church. She was an active worker in the church and was a member of the ladies aid. She was a devoted wife and mother and a sincere friend.
She is survived by her husband and one son, Nels.
