DECEASED PASSED AWAY ON THURSDAY AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL AT IOWA CITY
Was 69 Years of Age - Funeral Services Held Sunday at Sundberg's Funeral Parlors
The funeral services for Lewis A. Morehouse, for many years a resident of the Madrid and Luther communities, were held Sunday afternoon at the Sundberg Funeral parlors with Rev. E. A. Thompson, pastor of the Church of God here, in charge. Short services at the grave at Polk City were in charge of Rev. W. C. Berggren.
Mr. Morehouse had been ill for some time but it was not until recently that he was taken to the hospital at Iowa City in an effort to cure his ailment. However, he slowly grew worse until his death occurred Thursday, Nov. 10.
During the funeral services the music was furnished by Everett Hull and Mrs. Frank Hull, who sang as a duet hymns which were old favorites of the deceased. The pall bearers were freinds and neighbors of Mr. Morehouse.
BORN IN MISSOURI
Lewis A. Morehouse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Morehouse, departed this life at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 1 day. He was born December 9, 1868, at Kirksville, Missouri, in Adair Co. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Bertha Zerr on October 5, 1929.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Bertha Morehouse of Luther; two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Houston of Lancaster, Missouri and Mrs. Clara Pinkerton of Bozeman, Montana; and one son, Emmett Morehouse of Kirksville, Mo. Also four step-children, Clarence R. Shiffner of Winterset, Murley R. Zeer of Luther, Newton Zerr of Boone, and Mrs. E. D. Martin of Grimes. Twelve grandchildren and one great grand-child, a host of relatives and friends. One daughter preceded him in death in 1921.
