Uncie Joshua came to Boone County in 1850, laid a land warrant on some land and remained in the county until his death. He was well known by all the old settlers, and his house and heart were always open, and many homeseekers were fed and lodged by him. Though no brass or marble may mark his resting place, his memory will live in the urn of many hearts. the funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the residence by Rev. Lewis Doran, and his remains were followed to the cemetery at Elk Rapids by a large attendance of old settlers. -Boone Republican.
