Edna "Betty" Littlehale, 89, of Cherokee and former Ames, Iowa resident passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee with Rev. Magrey deVega officiating. Graveside services were at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Madrid.
Betty was born May 3, 1920 in Madrid to Earl and Alta (Clement) Brown. She graduated from Madrid High School in 1938. After attending Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls she taught 2 years in a country school. Following the death of her husband Edward Bargfield in 1944, she helped her parents in their jewelry store. In 1951, she was married to Ivan Littlehale.
She was currently a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee, was a former Sunday School Superindendant in Madrid. She recently was honored with a 75 year certificate for her membership in the Order of Eastern Star in Madrid, serving as Worthy Matron in 1951. She was also the Charter President of Beauceant in Ames. She enjoyed traveling with her two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward in 1944 and her husband Ivan in 1976 and two sisters Louise Cooper and Helen Partello.
She is survived by a son Edward Bargfield and his wife Beverly of Galesburg, Illinois; a daughter Mary Raveling and her husband Rod of Cherokee, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Doug Bargfield and family; Molly (Bargfield) Purcell and family; Robert Raveling and his wife Roxanne and family of Sioux City, Iowa; Becky (Raveling) Elemond and her husband Todd and family of Cherokee, Iowa; 6 great-grandchildren; one niece, Susan Dove and family.
