Lori Mendez, age 42, of 1009 Division Street, died Friday, May 22, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Highway 30, east of Boone. Her body has been cremated and a Memorial Service will be Friday, May 29, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Burial of her cremains will be in the McGuire Bend Cemetery in Dayton.
Lori was born in Fort Dodge on July 27, 1966, the daughter of Larry Kelley and Lullabell (Ober) Kruse. She grew up in the Dayton-Fort Dodge area and graduated from Dayton High School in 1984. Lori lived in Estherville from 1990 to 1999, Calmer from 1999 to 2005, and then Des Moines from 2005 to 2008, when she moved to Boone. She married Pascual Mendez in Decorah on May 17, 2002. Lori was employed by Nu-Vu Builders in Grimes. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing with her dogs, Toby and Pecos.
Lori is preceded in death by her father and maternal grandparents. She is survived by two sons, Josh Snyder of Ames and Steven Snyder of Anamosa; her mother and stepfather, Lullabell and Ron Kruse of Boone; two brothers, David Kelley of Boone and Larry Kelley and wife Sonya of Lehigh; and a sister, Peggy Ober of Stratford.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
