Fern E. Eldien, 93, formerly of 1624 ? 1st Street, Boone, Iowa passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Wednesday evening, March 11, 2009 where she had been a resident since December of 2004.
She was born on November 23, 1915 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Albert and Ethel (Pollard) Lindmark.
On April 7, 1940, she married Kermit A. Eldien at the Swede Valley Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa.
Fern was a homemaker. She graduated from Boone High School in 1933 and for a short time, she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell in Boone
She was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church where she active in her Church Circle and Ladies Sewing Club; belonged to numerous Bridge Clubs and served as a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at the Boone County Hospital.
Her parents; husband, Kermit in April of 2003; 1 son, Dan; 1 grandson, Brent; 1 sister, Helen; and 4 brothers William, Marvin, Robert and Kenneth preceded her in death.
Survivors include 2 daughters Donna Jones and husband Neil of Boone, Dee Hummel and husband Mike of Urbandale; grandchildren, Amy Foley and husband Chris and Jennifer Bassett and husband Jason all of Brainerd, Minnesota, Tim Hummel and wife Megan of Winona, Minnesota, Patrick Jones and wife Meagan of West Point, Iowa, Courtney Eldien of Polk City, Iowa, great-grandchildren Michael, Joe and Katie Foley all of Brainerd, Minnesota and Taylor Jones of West Point, Iowa; 2 sisters Sharon Lantz and husband Dick and Jeannine Orr all of Boone; nieces and nephews.
Services with visitations from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service will be held on Saturday morning, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Eastern Star Masonic Home Chapel in Boone with Pastor Daniel W. Solomon officiating.
Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
