Bernice Idella Wolf was born west of Madrid on January 15, 1915. She passed away at the Madrid Home on March 15, 2009. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Sundberg Kirkpatrick Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cassel Cemetery.
Bernice was the daughter of Isaac and Nellie (Peterson) Anderson. She grew up on the family farm and attended Elk Rapids rural school, Madrid High and Drake University. She spent 13 years as an elementary teacher in rural schools and Madrid Jr. High. On August 17, 1947 she married Lawrence J. Wolf of Ogden. She was a busy farm wife for many years, did some substitute teaching and for 40 years led a week day ladies' Bible class in Ogden. She was very active in the Swede Valley and Immanuel Lutheran churches and community affairs. She was a life long nature observer and had an insatiable thirst for knowledge of all kinds. She was creative and enjoyed writing and painting as time permitted. She loved to entertain and on occasion would open their Ogden farm home to lucky family and friends.
After Lawrence's death, her retirement to their Madrid house was blighted by worsening health and memory loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence, brother and wife, Lloyd and Wilma Anderson and their daughter, Judith. Surviving are her sister, May C. Anderson of Madrid, brother in law, Elmer of Diagonal, IA, numerous Wolf nieces and nephews and several precious cousins scattered across the USA and Sweden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Madrid Fire and Rescue or the charity of the donor's choice.
