Kathryn Ellsbury, age 99 a resident of the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center in Stratford, since 1996, and formerly of Ridgeport , in Boone County, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center in Stratford.
Kathryn was born on April 14, 1909 in Boone County, Iowa the daughter of John and Anna (Clark) Flockhart. She attended country school in Boone County.
Kathryn married Albert Jackson Ellsbury on April 10, 1929 in Boone, Iowa. She has lived in Boone County all her life. She worked with several families, doing housekeeping, also was a cook with the Boone County Home.
Kathryn was a member of the Mineral Ridge Baptist Church in Ridgeport, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies and canning what she raised in her garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her infant son, Duane; her son, Wesley Dean; her three sisters; her three brothers; her one great grandchild.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Loren Ellsbury (Pat) of Boone; her son, Arnold Ellsbury (Peggy) of Perry; her son, Ronald Ellsbury (Judy) of Perry; her son, Gary Ellsbury (Mary) of Boone; her nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 15, at the First Baptist Church in Boone. Rev. John Swoyer will officiate.
Burial will be in the Bluff Creek Cemetery, northwest of Boone.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, at the Walter ~Schroeder Funeral Home at Fifth & Story Streets in Boone from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service.
Memorials may be given to the family, to be used at their discretion.
