Beverly Jean Petersen Bock was born May 2, 1923, to Marcus and Louise (Sandell) Petersen in Boone, Iowa. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at the Fort Dodge Bickford Cottage. Bev graduated from Boone High School in 1941, and attended Iowa State University, earning a B.S. degree in child development. Beverly was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She taught preschool in Oregon for one year before returning to the Midwest.
On June 25, 1947, she married Dr. Don Richard Girton Bock, M.D., at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone. Don was physician in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and the couple resided in several locations, including Washington, D.C., Battle Creek, Michigan; San Antonio and Kaleen, Texas; and in Boone, while Don served overseas in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, the family moved to Ft. Dodge where Don began his private medical practice in 1954. Greeley Chapter of Questers; ISU Faculty Wives; United Presbyterian Women, P.E.O. and the Ames Golf & Country Club. Beverly returned to Ft. Dodge following Don's death in December, 2004, residing at Bickford Cottage.
Beverly and Don enjoyed extensive world travel and the Iowa Friendship Force. Her greatest passions were being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook and decorator, loved flower gardening, and was a talented golfer and bowler. Her family remembers her as the most kind and caring of mothers. Bev possessed a thoughtful and generous spirit, with a beaming smile for all.
