Faye Laverne Noland was born December 11, 1920 near Huxley to Elmer and Annie (Heggem) Olson. On November 21, 1941, she married Devon B. Noland. After farming together for over 40 years, north of Woodward, Devon and Faye retired and moved to Boone. Faye, age 88, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Boone County Hospital in Boone.
Faye enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, researching family history, sewing, crafts, jigsaw puzzles and collecting the Statehood Quarters. After retiring she continued to be involved in the family farm operation. When family and friends visited it was the highlight of her day.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Wanda Buehler and her husband, Jeff of West Des Moines, Beth Garrett of Madrid and Phyllis Tiernan and her husband, Opie of Woodward; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and two step-great-grandsons and their families. Faye was preceded in death by her spouse, Devon; daughter, Susan Jerri; sister, Arline Brumbaugh; brother, Earl Olson; and son-in-law, James Garrett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 16, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Woodward Cemetery in Woodward.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any memorial contributions be made to the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation.
