*** IN LOVING MEMORY OF ***
Robert "Craig" "Burt" Moore, 58, passed away December 30, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 5th, 2008 at Woodland Hills Church of Christ, 3040 SE 72nd St. in Runnells. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Craig was born November 4th, 1949 in Des Moines to Robert and Dorothy Jean (McClelland) Moore. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and Iowa State University in Industrial Arts Education. Craig's first marriage was to Paula Moore, from this union he had daughter, Lisa. He then married Sandra Kay (Rickert-Boehm) on 2/22/02 at 2:22PM at the Campanile on the Iowa State University campus. From this union, he gained four stepchildren, Katie, Karissa, Mark, and Michael Boehm.
Craig worked at H & D Kawasaki in Boone then for Zooks Harley Davidson as a mechanic from which he retired. Craig (or Burt as he was known in Boone) loved riding motorcycles. He could fix anything cheaply. He loved going to his stepchildren's and grandson's ballgames and other activities. He enjoyed going to ISU ballgames (when they played well) and Iowa Cubs games. He loved jokes and playing with words and the English language. He also loved shopping for a bargain and using coupons. He loved taking road trips and playing with his friends. He liked working with wood and making unique presents. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dogs.
Craig was always willing to help a friend or a stranger and he knew no enemies. The wealth and loyalty of his friends is indicative of his loving heart and soul. Craig spent enumerable hours taking care of Sandy's mom who has Alzheimer's disease.
Craig is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; daughter, Lisa Diane (Donny Young) Moore; stepchildren, Katie (Charlie) Crees, Kari Boehm, Mark Boehm and Michael Boehm; stepmother, Dorothy Ann Moore; grandchildren, Ethan Crees, Breanna, Tanner, Hannah, Mallory, Dawson, Gus, and Gunner Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests consideration be given to a cause in which Craig was interested, supporting important research efforts at the University of Minnesota aimed at stopping the development of Alzheimer's Disease.
For those who might be interested, giving information follows:
Dr. Karen Hsiao Ashe (at the University of Minnesota) has been conducting revolutionary research into Alzheimer's Disease.
