Grandma Berry Obituary

Mrs. Amanda Berry was born in
Hampshire County, West Virginia on
January 21st, 1829 and departed this
life February 21st, 1915 , having
reached the ripe age of 86 years and
one month. At the age of 8 years she
moved with her parents to Carroll Co.,
Indiana. She was united in marriage
to George W. Berry. To this union was
born seven children, Sarah Jane, Mary
Ann, Joseph Scott, George Addison,
Elizabeth Frances, Alice Ellen and
Florence May. Her husband and five
of the children preceded her to the
better country many years ago. She
moved to Boone County in 1853 where
she resided until death.

She experienced religion many years
ago and has always been thoroughly
consecrated to the service of her Lord.
She was an indulgent and loving mother,
a kind and obliging neighbor and a con-
sistent and faithful member of the
Pilot Mound Baptist Church of which
she was a charter member. Her rela-
tives and all who were so fortunate as
to have the benefit of her society and
influence will rise up to call her blessed.
Heaven is richer and the earth poorer
when such as she are taken away. She
leaves to mourn her loss, one sister,
two children, fifteen grand-children,
twenty-one great-grand-children, the
church to which she belonged, her neigh-
bors and all who knew her well.

The funeral services were held from
the Baptist Church Wednesday after-
noon with interment at the Linn
cemetery. Rev. Bancroft officiated.
