Roswell R. Gibbons, 85, of 1422 Argo Street, Boone, Iowa passed away at Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa on Friday morning, December 16, 2005.

He was born on October 15, 1920 in Boone, Iowa the son of Charles and Emma (Wirtz) Gibbons.

On April 9, 1941, he married Stella B. Russell at the Central Christian Church in Boone, Iowa.

Roswell was a farmer all of his life and also built and remodeled homes. He enjoyed camping and having coffee with his friends.

He was a member of the Central Christian Church.

His parents, 3 brothers, Earl, Gay, Arnold, and 4 sisters, Frances, Eleanor, Gladys, and Pearl preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Stella, of Boone, Iowa, 1 son, Mark Gibbons and his wife Laurie of Boone, Iowa, 3 daughters, Kathy Van Pelt and her husband Larry of Grand Junction, Iowa, Sue Pratt of Boone, Iowa, Rosie Irvine and her husband Gary of Boone, Iowa, 4 grandsons, Jeff Van Pelt and his wife Mau of Grand Junction, Wes Van Pelt and his wife Tanille of Farmington, Minnesota, Tim Van Pelt and his wife Kristi of North Liberty, Iowa, Chad Gibbons and his wife Joni of Ames, Iowa, 3 granddaughters, Jeannie Blazek and her husband Steve of Des Moines, Iowa, Kristin Paris and her husband Gregg of Albia, Iowa, Stacie Pratt of Boone, Iowa, 3 great-grandsons, Beau Blazek and Pierce Blazek of Des Moines, Iowa, Ethan Van Pelt of Farmington, Minnesota, 4 great-granddaughters, Alexa Paris and Mackenzie Paris of Albia, Iowa, Madilyn Van Pelt of Grand Junction, Iowa, Ava Gibbons of Ames, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday afternoon, December 19th at 1:30 P.M. at the Stark-Welin Chapel with Rev. Paul Fraser officiating.

Interment will be in Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Monday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to the Central Christian Church.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
