Ruth Elaine Duncan, 90, formerly of 521 Monona Street, Boone, Iowa passed away at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone, Iowa on Sunday morning, October 8, 2006. She had been a resident at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone since October of 2002.
She was born on December 4, 1915 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Rosa (Wright) Shadle.
On May 6, 1937, she married Robert Burdette Duncan at Des Moines, Iowa.
Ruth was a 1933 graduate of Boone High School. She worked in the office at Raulston Purina Egg Processing Plant for a number of years and later was an interviewer for the Iowa Employment Security Commission until her retirement. Following her retirement, Ruth worked in the office at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railway.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church. Ruth was an avid bowler and in 2001 was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Boone County women bowlers. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several Bridge Clubs. Ruth also volunteered as a Gray Lady Volunteer at the Woodward State Hospital.
Her parents and husband, Robert, in July of 1970, preceded her in death.
Survivors include 1 son, Carl (Patsy) Duncan of Ames, Iowa, 3 grandsons, Chris, Craig, and Curt Duncan, and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with interment will be held on Wednesday morning, October 11th at 11:00 A.M. at the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. when the casket will be taken to the cemetery for services.
The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. to greet friends.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
