Thomas "Tom" Verne Pritchard, age 66 of Boone, died on Saturday, December 24, 2005 in Ames, Iowa.
Tom was born on December 11, 1939 in Boone, Iowa to Vernie Lauren and Sarah Maye (Blanchard) Pritchard. Tom graduated from Boone High School in 1958.
Tom married Virginia "Ginger" Lucille Shearer on July 2, 1960 in Nevada, Iowa.
He was retired from the Chicago Northwestern Railroad after 17 years of service. Tom served in the Iowa National Guard and was a member of the Boone County Radio Control Club for 14 years and the Academy of Model Aeronautics for 16 years. He enjoyed building and flying his radio controlled airplanes, hunting and fishing.
Tom is survived by his wife Ginger Pritchard of Boone; his three sons, Thomas Scott Pritchard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mark Boyd Pritchard and his wife Linda of Slater, Iowa, Samuel Joseph Pritchard of Boone, Iowa; his three grandchildren, Alexis Marie Bugger, Ashlei Nichole Pritchard of Boone and Andrew Jarred Pritchard of Slater, Iowa; his one sister, Beverly Van Fossen of Ames, Iowa; his two brothers-in-law, Brad Beckett of Boone and Gordon Shearer of Hurricane, Utah; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, J. Harley Reed; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn Cook Shearer and Raymond Marion Shearer; two sisters, Ardeth Mills and Pamela Beckett; three brothers-in-law, Pete Mills, Jerry Shearer and Larry Van Fossen.
Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church of Boone. Rev. Phil Webb will officiate.
Disposition of the cremated remains will be at a later date.
Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, December 28, at the First United Methodist Church of Boone from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family to be used at their discretion.
