Tom Sargent 1942-2005

Tom Sargent, 62, Baytown, Texas, and formerly of Boone died Tuesday, March 1, of respiratory failure at the University of Texas A & M Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

Services will be Monday, March 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth & Marshall streets with the Rev. Ray Kruger officiating.

Burial will be in Squire Boone Cemetery.

Mr. Sargent was born in Boone on May 1, 1942, the son of Edward and Ada (Shearer) Sargent.

He graduated from Jewell High School in 1960. On June 4, 1965, he married Phyllis Luhring in Grundy County near New Holland.

The couple later divorced. He lived in Marshalltown from 1966 to 1978 working for Fisher Governor and Arbie Feeds.

He moved to Baytown in 1978 and was employed as a farmhand. He was a life member of the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother Lewis, one nephew, Andrew Sargent, and one great-niece, Chelsea Sargent.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Sargent and wife Sheila of Windsor Heights and Robert Sargent and wife Sharran Slinkard of Ankeny; two daughters, Annette Louk and husband David of Webster City and Tammy Sargent of St. Paul, Minn.; his mother, Ada Sargent of Webster City; three brothers, Willard and wife, Sharon, and Frank and wife, Connie, all of Jewell, and Arthur and wife, Elaine, of Boone; one sister, Dixie Klement and husband, Jon, of Sedalia, Mo.; three grandchildren, Brittany and Tiffany Louk of Webster City, and Joseph Sargent of Windsor Heights.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. where the family will be present from 7- 8:30 p.m.

Visitation continues Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
