Virginia A. Mittlestadt, 81, Hubbard, died Tuesday at the Hubbard Care Center of respiratory failure. She was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Des Moines to Albert H. and Florence (Porter) Olesen. She married Clifford "Bud" Larson Jr., Sept. 13, 1942, in Princeton, MO.
She later married Clayton Mittlestadt on Sept. 8, 1956, in Council Bluffs.
She attended Oak Park Academy in Nevada. She was a waitress and retired after 24 years at the Student Supply Store in Ames. She enjoyed stock car races, cooking and all ISU athletics. She had been a resident of Boone from 1978 to 2000 before moving to Hubbard.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Clayton Mittlestadt of Hubbard; four sons, Terry Larson of Boone, Steve Larson of Ames, Jim Larson of Boone and Craig Mittlestadt of Collins; one daughter, Cheryl Hausner of Radcliffe; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nevada, with the Rev. David Lincoln officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Cambridge Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established.
