W. Dayle Issacson 1923-2003

W. Dayle Isaacson, 80, 1421 230th St., Boone, died Tuesday at Boone County Hospital of heart failure.

Funeral services were held Friday at First United Methodist Church in Boone with the Rev. Jessica Johnston and the Rev. Larry LaVelle officiating. Burial was in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

He was born Jan. 19, 1923, in Stratford, the son of Wallace and Ruth (Anderson) Isaacson. He married Marilyn Morrison Jan. 23, 1960, in Boone.

He graduated from Boone High School in 1941 and attended Iowa State University and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. He was engaged in farming south of Boone.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was an active member of 4-H, where he had served as a 4-H leader. He was a pitcher for the former Boone men's baseball team and was an active member of the Boone Lion's Club, serving as past president and past district governor. He was honored as Boone Lion of the Year and this year was the first to receive he District 9X7 Lion of the Year Award. He also helped organize the Quest program, the turkey dinner fund raiser and also helped make Pancake Days diabetic friendly. His hobbies included traveling and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul and his companion, Teresa, of Boone, and Steven and his fiance, Kay, of Washington; three grandsons, Cooper of Washington, Greg of Boone and Nathan of Washington; and one granddaughter, Tera of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Warren S. Isaacson; and one nephew.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
