Walter E. Kennedy, 75, Yuma, Ariz., and formerly of Des Moines, died Apirl 12 at St. Joseph Hospice in Phoenix, Ariz.

The body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Evangelical Free Church, Boone, with Don Howard officiating.

He was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Des Moines, the son of James and Olive (Carpenter) Kennedy. He married Joyce Hutchinson in November of 1949 in Moingona. He was a pressman for Meredith Publishing in Des Moines for 18 years before retiring to Yuma, Ariz. He was a member of the Masons Mount Olive Loge. No. 79 AF & AM in Boone and Des Moines Printing Union No. 86.

He is survived by his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Liz Kennedy of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Alexandra and John Kennedy of Des Moines; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jim and Vivian Kennedy of Boone, Raymond Kennedy of Boone and Bill and Janaan Kennedy of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Delores Davis and her husband, Jimmie, of Yuma, Ariz., and JoEllen Howard and her husband, Don, of Boone; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tim Kennedy; one niece; and one sister-in-law, Janice Kennedy.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Arizona, 222 W. Northern Ave., Suite A-1, Phoenix, Ariz. 85201.
