Glenn B. Moore, 83, of 1211 W. State St., died on Friday, Feb. 18, 2000 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerald Swanberg officiating. Visiting hours will be from 12 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. A memorial fund has been established.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1916 at Rinard, to Earl J. and Leone Decker Moore. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth graduating from Rinard High School in 1934. In 1938, he graduated from Upper Iowa University and later married married Jean Phyllis Fay on Aug. 7, 1938 at Summer.

He taught high school mathematics and coached boys and girls basketball in serveral Iowa communities, including Randall, Hubbard and State Center. In 1948, he received his master's degree from Iowa State University and later served as principal of Storm Lake, Boone and Marshalltown High Schools. He also served as superintendent of the Crestland Schools in Early. In 1974, he retired to Cedar Rapids and moved back to Marshalltown in 1986.

He was past president of the Iowa Association of secondary principals, and served on the National Advisory Board, was a member of the Representative Council of the Boys Iowa High School Athletic Association for 10 years, as well as a member of the Board of Control.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Moore of Marshalltown; a son, Jim (Joan) Moore of Marshalltown; a daughter Sue Hansen of St. Charles, MO; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl Jr.
