LAST RITES FOR JAS. TILLEY SR. HELD AUG 2:
Old Time Resident of Ogden Community Died July 30th

Funeral services for James Tilley, Sr., who passed away at his home in the northwest part of town Saturday afternoon, July 30 at 2:45 o'clock, were held at the St. John's Catholic church in Ogden, on August 2, 1938 at 9 o'clock a.m. at which the Requiem High Mass was sung by Father Edward C. Lilly.

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. John LaMar and Mrs. Theresa Carpenter.

Casketbearers were John Weber, John LaMar, Tony Galloro, Dennis Vaughan, Tom Campbell and Nick Weber.

Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.

James Tilley, Sr., was born in England on January 6, 1866. He was the son of Hannah and George Tilley. He came to America when he was six years of age and has lived most of his life in Boone county.

In 1888 he was married to Harriett Langan and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on January 2, 1938.

Seven children were born to this union. They are: Mrs. Ed Germer, Mrs. James Buckley, Archie Tilley, James Tilley, Jr., all of Ogden; Mrs. Robert Wilson of Madred; Chris Tilley of Boone and Sylvester Tilley who died in infancy.

He left to mourn his wife, Mrs. James Tilley, Sr., the above six children and 33 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; also three brothers, Joseph and William of Boone and John of Wyoming, two sisters, Elizabeth Coleman of Fraser and Mary Oakley of Boone. He is also survived by a half-sister, Mary Ann Love of Boone and two half-brothers, George and Fred Martin of Boone.
