Roger A. Oppedahl, 51, Boone, died Saturday at his home of cancer. He was born May 7, 1951, in Algona, the son of Knut and Mary Jane (Hofius) Oppedahl. He married Chris M. Sinclair Aug. 1, 1969.

He graduated from Humboldt High School and Iowa State University. He and his wife had lived in the Boone area for 24 years and he had worked as a systems analysts manager at Iowa State University for 24 years. He was a member of Bethel Church in Boone, where he had served as past treasurer, sang in the choir and was a member of the building committee. He was also involved in Habitat for Humanity and was treasurer of the Boone Biblical Ministries. He served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force from June of 1971 to August of 1974.

He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Angie Oppedahl of Boone and Greg and Jenny Oppedahl of Boone; five grandchildren, Joplin, Dalton, Wyatt, Madesen and Sinclair; his mother of Fort Dodge; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Knut and Kathy Oppedahl of Cedar Rapids and Jim Oppedahl of Muscatine.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Church with the Rev. Larry Knapp and the Rev. Ray Hoke officiating. Burial will be in Sparks Cemetery in rural Boone.

Friends may call at Carson Funeral Home, Ogden, Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Carson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
