Frona Toyne Peterson, 75, Roseville, MN, and formerly of Boone, died Sept. 2 at Unity Hospital in Fridley, MN of congestive heart failure. She was born July 1, 1927, in Paton, the daughter of Ray Alan and Mildred (Tonkinson) Shafer. She married Duane Toyne Nov. 28, 1946, in Boxholm.

She grew up in the Boxholm area and graduated from Boxholm High School with the Class of 1944. She and her husband made their home in Muscatine and in the early 1950s moved to the family farm near Ogden. She lived on the farm until her husband's death in 1981, then moved to Boxholm for a short time before moving to Boone. In April of 2000, she moved to Roseville, MN, to be closer to her daughter. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Rolfes Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1995. She was a past member of the Evangelical Free Church in Boone. In earlier years, she enjoyed camping when time permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Cheryl Toyne of Dayton; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Michael McCowen of Blaine, MN; her grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Charlie Toyne, Shae McCowen and his wife, Lisa, and Shawna and Natalie McCowen; one sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Sam Chiles of Ogden; and one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Eunice Shafer of Anderson, IN.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Dayton with the Rev. John Hembry officiating. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm.

Carson Funeral Home, Dayton, is in charge of arrangements.
