Ansel Sackrison, 90, a resident of the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center, Stratford, and formerly of 800 Tennyson St., Stratford, died Saturday at the home of congestive heart failure. She was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Stratford, the daughter of Albert and Mabel (Hoistrom) Anderson. She married Carl Sackrison June 27, 1940, in Stratford.
She was a 1929 graduate of Stratford High School and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in country schools in the Stratford area until her marriage. She was a homemaker and for 13 years was a cook for the Stratford School District. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Stratford, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Stratford Women's Club. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in December of 1985; and three brothers. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Carlene and Rolf Solbach of Algona and Shirley and Jerome Jorgenson of Santa Fe, NM; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Linda Sackrison of Lompoc, CA; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Kastler officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Township Cemetery southwest of Stratford.
Friends may call at Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be present to receive friends. Visitation continues Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of services.
Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Stratford is in charge of arrangements.
