Juana K. Sandberg 1926-2001

Juana K. Sandberg, 74, 945 South Story St., Boone, died June 9 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames of complications from cancer. She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Iowa City, the daughter of John and Bertelle (Larson) Kirchner. She married Dr. H.P. "Pete" Sandberg Dec. 23, 1950, in Fort Dodge.

She was a 1945 gradute of Fort Dodge High School and received her degree in dietetics from Iowa State University in 1949. She was a registered dietician at Boone County Hospital unitl her retirement in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband in February of 1984. Survivors include one son, H.P. Sandberg of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Maja Sandberg of Redding, Calif., Britta Sandberg of Hiawatha, and Elisabet Sandberg-Ibach of Minneapolis, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Lauren and Taylor Ball of Redding, Calif., and Kajsa and Joe Jackson of Hiawatha.

The body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Doun officiating. Private interment will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Memorials may be given to the Boone Area Humane Society.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors of Boone is in charge of arrangments.
