June Carrel Sellers 1922-2001

June Carrel Sellers, 78, formerly of 927 W. 9th Street, Boone, died at the Evangelical Free Church home in Boone on Tuesday due to respiratory complications. She had been a resident at the Evangelical Free Church Home since March of 1990. She was born June 15, 1922, in Boone County, the daughter of William and Minnie (Higgins) Voegtlin. She married William I. Carrel on Aug. 1, 1946, in Boone. William passed away in May of 1973. She married Joe Sellers on Dec. 23, 1973, in Cedar Rapids.

She graduated from Boone High School in 1940. She enjoyed her family and her grandchildren. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Magi Chapter #139 of Boone, and attended the Church of the Open Bible in Boone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William; second husband, Joe; two granddaughters, Tricia Carrel, and Alison Carrel; one brother; one step-daughter, Debbie Dalziel. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Lorie Carrel, of Boone; two grandsons, Andrew Carrel, of Boone, and Travis Carrel, and his wife, Andrea, of West Des Moines; one step-daughter, Sandra Adams, and her husband, rich, of Stacyville; one step-son, Rodney Sellers, of Cedar Rapids; and four step-grandchildren.

The body was cremated. There will be no visitations. Graveside services with interment of ashes will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone, with the Rev. Donald Stover officiating.

Memorials may be given to Hidden Acres, or the Evangelical Free Church Home.

Stark-Welin Funeral Directors, Boone, is in charge of arrangements.
