Luvern Stoner, 86, of 725 Dryden Street, Stratford, died Saturday at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center, due to complications from emphysema. He had been a resident at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center for the past two weeks. He was born May 15, 1914, in Stratford, the son of Oscar and Bessie (Spurling) Stoner. He married Pauline Naslund on March 5, 1938, at the Baptist Church parsonage in Stratford.
He farmed in the Stratford area until 1976, when the couple moved to Stratford. He attended the Stratford Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tracy, of Bristol, Tenn., and Doyle, of Ogden; four grandchildren, Brent Stoner, of Jefferson, Kristin Stoner, of Boone, Valerie Stoner, of Boone, B.J. Stoner, of Pilot Mound; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Chelsey Stoner, both of Jefferson; nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday at the Stratford Baptist Church with the Rev. David Fernlund officiating. Interment is in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford.
Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford was in charge of arrangements.
