James (Jim) Robert Sucher, 53, Kansas City, MO, and formerly of Boone, died Oct. 31 at his home of heart failure. He was born May 14, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Virginia (Schroeder), Sucher.
He graduated from Ames High School in 1966 and attended Westmar College, where he received a bachelor's degree. He moved to Kansas City in the early 1970s and owned the Spot Light Railroad Hobby Shop for many years. He was a model railroad enthusiast and skilled in many areas of model railroading. Other hobbies included music, as he was a drummer in a band while in college, and photography, where he recorded railroad scenes.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, David and Avis Sucher of Red Wing, MN; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Monte Clinton of Etna, NH; and one nephew and three nieces.
No visitation has been scheduled.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone with the Rev. Lindsay Watkins officiating.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice in memory of James Sucher.
