Irene B. Thompson, 94, Merrill, WI, died Thursday at Pine Crest Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 23, 1908, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Spencer and Alma (Treptol) Smart. She married Harold "Ode" Thompson Sept. 15, 1951, in Boone.

She attended Boone Bible School and worked at the former Westside Laundry Mat in Merrill from 1968 to 1979. Her hobbies included crocheting afghans and visiting with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include one sister, Beverly Thompson of Quinlin, TX; and two brothers, Lloyd Smart of Caldwell, ID and Bruce Smart of Fort Morgan, CO.

Funeral services were held Monday at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill with the Rev. Allen Worlin officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Boone.

Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, is in charge of arrangements.
