Kenneth M. Van Fossen, 45, Boone, died Sunday at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames of cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1055, in Ames, the son of Larry and Beverly (Pritchard) Van Fossen. He married Darnell Williams Feb. 14, 1981, in Nashua.

He graduated from Ames High School in 1974 and moved to Boone in 1977. He attended Des Moines Area Community College and was employed at OEI in Urbandale and at the 4-H Center in Madrid. He also was a gentleman farmer. He was a member of the Ames Elks Club, Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and ISU sports.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1998; and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy and Bryan Kreutzjans of Boone, and Heidi Van Fossen, all of Boone; two sons, Aaron Van Fossen of Kearney, Mo., and Nathan Van Fossen of Boone; his mother of Ames; one brother, Ted Van Fossen of Axtel, Neb.; one sister, Bea Smith of Ames; and two granddaughters.

The body has been cremated.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames with the Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may call at Adams Funeral Home in Ames Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the Iowa 4-H Foundation or the Iowa 4-H Center.
