Roger L. Wenger, 49, of Kansas City, MO, died Friday at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1952, in Jefferson, the son of Eldon and Irene (Hess) Wenger. He married Christy Baxter on March 18, 1972 in Ogden. The couple later divorced.
He graduated from Ogden High School in 1971. He worked for his parents as a semi-truck driver for Wenger Truck Line, Inc. until 1979, when he began farming in the Ogden area. In 1983, he moved to Excelsior Springs, MO, where he worked as a truck driver. He later worked as an owner and operator for Brittian Truck Lines in Kansas City, MO. He stopped driving trucks in 1994 due to health problems. He then worked for Anderson Tuxedo's and later for Metroplex, both in Kansas City, MO. He was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden and was currently a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Excelsior Springs, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a niece. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Misty Wenger of Kearney, MO, and Shawntell and Jay McElroy of Raymore, MO; a son, Ted L. Wenger of Kansas City, MO; his mother of Beaver; three grandchildren, Alissa Elliott and Dustin and Jordan McElroy; his former wife, Chris Beistle of Polo, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Eldo E. and Pam Wenger of Stockton, CA; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen I. And William H. Radebaugh of Grand Junction, and Jaqueline J. and Roger Sturtz of Humboldt.
Funeral services were held Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden with the Rev. Stephen Ude officiating. The body was cremated and a private family scattering of ashes will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be give to the family to be used at their discretion.
Carson Funeral Homes of Ogden was in charge of arrangements.
