Arthur H. Westerfeld, 86, Boone, died Saturday at the Evangelical Free Church Home due to respiratory failure. He was born Feb. 22, 1915, in St. Charles Mo., the son of Reynold and Mary (Nolle) Westerfeld. He attended school in St. Charles, Mo. He lived in St. Charles until he moved to Boone in 1990. He married Dorothy Ehlman.

He farmed near St. Charles until age 35, then worked for the City of St. Charles in the water department until he was 55. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of St. Charles. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; his sister, Esther Schmidt; and his brother, Herb. Survivors include his stepson and daughter-in-law, Lee and Bev Gutermuth of Boone; his grandson, David Gutermuth and his wife, Lynn, of Goldensbridge, N.Y.; his granddaughter, Beth Gutermuth of Minneapolis, Minn.; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Steinhoff, and Edna Rothermich of Portage, Mo.

Visitation will be today from 3 until 8 p.m. at the Paul Funeral Home in St. Charles, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Paul Funeral Home in St. Charles, Mo.

Paul Funeral Home, St. Charles, Mo., is in charge of arrangements. Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home on Story Street is in charge of local arrangements.
