Bertha Willhoite, 84, Evanston, died Sunday at Grandview Health Care in Dayton. She was born Dec. 16, 1916, in Boone County, the daughter of Orville and Violet (Harvey) Sparks. She married William J. Willhoite Feb. 27, 1941, in Boone.

She attended country school in Ogden. She and her husband established their home in Evanston, where they resided all of their married life with the exception of a brief time when they lived near Sac City and during a three-year period when they lived in Missouri. She was a homemaker and worked at Morton Frozen Foods in Webster City. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Otho and belonged to the Evanston Quilting Club. Her hobbies included cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Sparks and Glen Sparks; and one sister, Alice Stevens. Survivors include her husband of Grandview Health Care in Dayton; one son and daughter-in-law, Chester and Rita Willhoite of Lehigh; one daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Ben Biovengo of Mountainair, N.M.; four grandchildren, Sherri Rasmussen, Diane Peterson, David Willhoite and Christy Quimby; two great-grandchildren, Mason Peterson and Abigail Rasmussen; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Francis and Roland Peterson of Adel, Whanetta Weber of Chicago, Ill., Betty Herman of Bettendorf and Marjorie and Carl Larson of Pilot Mound; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Carson Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
