Everett E. Williams, 76, Ames, and formerly of Boone, died Wednesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames of complications of surgery. He was born May 29, 1925, in Boone, the son of Edward Everett and Geneva Josephine (Craven) Williams.
He attended country school in Boone County and lived at the Boone County Care Facility, River Valley Residential for 50 years. He then lived at Cedar Lane Estates in Jefferson for three years and for the last three years had lived at Abington on Grand in Ames. While living at River Valley Residential, he worked around the farm and did different chores. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Boone as a youngster and his hobbies included bowling, watching television and playing softball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Eugene Williams. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Dean Swearingen of Waukee; his sister-in-law, Joyce Williams of Madison, S.D.; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, with the Rev. Don Stover officiating. Burial will be in Mineral Ridge Cemetery west of Ridgeport.
Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be given to the charity of choice in memory of Everett E. Williams.
Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
