Arthur C. Wilson, 81, 220 South Webster St., Boone, died Thursday at the Evangelical Free Church Home, Boone, of congestive heart failure. He had been a resident of the home for the past week. He was born May 23, 1919, in Pilot Mound, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Chase) Wilson. He married Helen Myers Feb. 22, 1946, in Boone.
He was a graduate of Pilot Mound High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army in North Africa and Italy. He was employed by the Chicago and North Western Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1982 as a conductor. He also worked six years for the Rock Island Railroad. His hobbies included gardening and attending garage sales. He was a member of the American Legion, AARP, NARVE, and the United Transportation Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Larry Wilson. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Mary Jo Wilson of Mankato, Minn., and Dennis and Kathy Wilson of Fairfax; four grandchildren, Mindy Wilson and Dustin Wilson, both of Fairfax, and Alana Wilson and Hannah Wilson, both of Mankato, Minn.; one sister, Abby Hand of Boone; one sister-in-law, Virginia Wilson of Pilot Mound; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial with the presentation of the flag by the Boone Veterns Council will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be present to receive friends. Visitation will continue Saturday at the funeral chapel from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
