Clara Windmiller, 94, 715 West Mamie Eisenhower Ave., Boone, died Saturday at Boone County Hospital of respiratory complications. She was born March 21, 1907, in Decatur County, the daughter of Dee and Ada (Warner) Binder. She married Joel Windmiller Sept. 8, 1928. She had been a resident of the Eastern Star Masonic Home since March of 1974.
She graduated from high school in 1925 and lived most of her life in Iowa before moving to Florida in 1954. She was employed as a practical nurse, providing private in-home care to the elderly. She also did volunteer work in hospitals and for shut-ins until her health began to fail in 1974. She moved from Florida to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone in 1974. She was a charter member of the First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines and the Open Bible Tabernacle in St. Petersburg, Fla. She also was a member of the Women's World Fellowship at the Church of the Open Bible in Boone. She was a member of AARP and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, most recently Magi Chapter No. 139 of Boone.
She was preceded in death by her husband in August of 1948; and three brothers. Survivors include one sister, Lucille Griffen of Eldon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with the Rev. Bruce Pfadenhauer officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.
Friends may call at Stark-Welin Chapel today from 8 a.m. until time time of services.
