Fred G. Wulf, 69, Boone, died Dec. 20 at Boone County Hospital of heart failure. He was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Sturgis, SD, the son of Miford and Lucille (Meyers) Wulf. He married Kay Ginter in 1958 in Sturgis, SD.
He graduated from Sturgis High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He and his wife moved to Boone in 1966. He worked as an operating engineer's helper for Iowa Electric Light & Power from 1966 until 1983, when he retired because of a disability. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Boone and Elks Lodge No. 563 of Boone. His hobbies included spending time with his children and grandchildren, being a Boy Scout leader and a Camp Fire Doo Dad. He also enjoyed planting trees at Camp Hantesa with the Campfire organization and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Cary and Diana Wulf of Boone and Bob and Denise Wulf of Boone; one daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Larry Gustafson of Boone; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Megan, Caitlin, Pierce, Benett, Crystal, Jacob and Zachary; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Mary Wulf of Sturgis, SD and Larry and Chiko Wulf of Riverside, CA; one sister and brother-in-law, Dodie and David McFarland of Hot Springs, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, with the Rev. Marge Smalley officiating. Burial with military honors by the Boone Veterans Council was in South Marion Cemetery southeast of Stratford.
Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
