Karen Marie Adix, 59, Boone, died Monday at Boone County Hospital of heart failure. She was born April 26, 1941, in Boone, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Anderson) Adix.

She lived in Boone County all of her life and graduated from United Community School in 1959. Following graduation, she helped with the dairy herd and on the family farm, and from 1973 to 1974 she worked at the Boone Farm Bureau as an office assistant. She then worked for 14 years at the Big Bear store in Boone, doing various duties, and then worked as an office clerk in the Fareway Stores, Inc. warehouse for seven years. At the time of her death she was working for Central Iowa Transit, Inc., Ames, as a school bus attendant for special needs children. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Boone, serving as a Sunday school teacher for the church for more than 30 years. She also as a 4-H member and a past 4-H leader. Her hobbies included crafts and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include two brothers, Norman and Larry, both of Boone; and several cousins and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Donald Stover officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation continues Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
