Joseph Anderson, 67, 502 Second St., Pilot Mound, died Friday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of a brain aneurysm. He was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Pilot Mound, the son of John and Lillian (Tilley) Anderson. He married Mary Riley July 3, 1982, in Nevada.

He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving with the United States Navy. He was employed with Hallett Materials-Sand and Gravel Plant for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. His hobbies included fishing and playing the guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Joseph Joplin Anderson; one sister, Honey Lou Hefler; and two brothers, Bud and Jack Anderson. Survivors include his wife; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David of Pilot Mound and Michael and Betty of Beatrice, NE; an adopted son, Orville Miller or Oregon; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, his twin brother Gerald and Pam Anderson of Boone, Harold Anderson of California, Tom and Imogene Anderson of Malvern and Duane "Butch" Anderson of Boone; eight sisters and five brothers-in-law, Valletta and Ron Coates of Malvern, Lillian and Maynard Lind, June and John Stoneburner and Peg Bielfelt, all of Boone, Irene Huntley of Ames, Doris and Steve Banford of Ogden, Evelyn and Gene Gilliam of Pilot Mound and Leona Erickson of Jefferson; 11 grandchildren; and many adopted grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pilot Mound United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rod Rindahl officiating. Burial will be in Pilot Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone, today from 8 to 11 a.m. and at the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
