Fern G. Hammarstedt, 87, of Ogden, died Sunday at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. She was born July 13, 1914, on a farm near Ogden. She married Leo Hammarstedt Feb. 17, 1946, at the Ogden Methodist Church parsonage.

She attended country school in Boone County. The couple lived and farmed southeast of Ogden for many years, until retiring and moving into Ogden. She was a lifelong member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden where she was active in Church Circles. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 26, 1989; and a brother, Melvin Leichliter.

She is survived by a brother Lavern Leichliter of Ogden; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden. The Rev. Steve Satre will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.

Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
