Marie Krumm 1911-2001

Marie E. Krumm, 90, Boone, died Saturday at the Boone County Hospital of complications from surgery. She was born on March 2, 1911, in Boone County, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hasstedt) Mindeman. She married Herbert (Hap) Krumm on Dec. 29, 1930, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduated from Boone High School in 1929.She was baptised on March 26, 1911, at St. Paul's Lutheran Chrus and was confirmed May 31, 1925, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was active in the ladies society for many years. She taught in Boone County schools prior to her marriage and lived in Hamilton County until she and her husband retired to Boone. They had farmed in Boone and Hamilton counties. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and making afghans for her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Hurley; her husband; two sisters, Lydia Krug and Rose McCoy; and one brother, Al. Survivors include her daughter, Joye Engstrom of Boone and her companion, Ken Zanker of Ralston, NE; five grandchildren, Jennifer Friedmeyer and her husband, Andy, Dennis Krumm and his wife, Pam, Daniel Engstrom and his wife, Lana, and Karol Krumm and her husband, Vince Jasper; nine great-grandchildren, Toby Krumm, Tracy Krumm, Abby Friedmeyer, Lindsay Friedmeyer, Jeffery Friedmeyer, Jamie Engstrom, Zachary Engstrom, Nikki O'Brien, and Lexxi O'Brien. One sister, Theresa Koch of Ogden; one daughter-in-law, Doris Mathre and her husband, Lester, of Boone; and two sisters, Mae Krumm of Boone, and Dorothy Ayres of Seal Beach, CA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Boone with the Rev. Bruce LaKamp officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Friends may call at Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home, 503 Story St., Boone, today from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and at the church from 13:30 p.m. until time of services.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
