Richarfd Kuschel, 75, 828 Fremont St., Boone, died Monday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames of an intestinal ailment. He was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Royalton, MN, the son Julius and Freda (Jackson) Kuschel. He married Lillian Jarrett June 19, 1954, in Independence.
He served with the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He worked in construction for Mcree Company in St. Paul, MN, Hallett construction in Crosby, MN and Norris Construction in Ottumwa. He also worked for 5th and Story service station and for 11 1/2 years was employed at DeKalb in Boone, retiring in 1989. His hobbies included gardening, watching football and baseball, and watching and reading about trains.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one sister, Jean Gallus. Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis and Donald Kroll of Minneapolis, MN and Donna Payne of New Brighton, MN; and several neices and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel, Sixth and Marshall streets, Boone. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of services.
Schroeder Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
